On Saturday, 10/04/08, a crisp, clear, sunny fall day, in the
beautiful home of John Cozza & Robin Fisher, whose generosity and
hospitality were unsurpassed, the Sacramento Saturday Club began the
2008-2009 season with a musical and gustatory Oktoberfest celebration.

The event was authentic and spirited: lieder, lederhosen, sauerkraut,
and German beer, and schnitzel, performances of pieces from the canons
of German composers, potato salad, strudel, sausages, tortes,
lebkuchen, and frankfurters.

As returning and new members arrived, they were given name tags, but
they also had the name of a composer or musician (not limited by
musical genre or time periods), written on a sticker and placed on the
back of their shirts or dresses and they had to guess, by asking other
members for clues, the identity of the individual.

Everyone was welcomed to play for an appreciative audience. Some of
the impromptu performers were:
Antonio Bombal (wonderful classical
improvisation!),
Robin Fisher (wonderful lieder!),
Peter Hewitt (your
risk-taking opened the door for others- thank you!),
Joey Cozza (so
young and so talented), and, of course, our president and exceptional
pianist,
John Cozza.

No celebration would be possible without the effort, dedication, and
culinary talents of our Hospitality tag-team: Arlene Bradshaw and Joan
McCloud (and their faithful husbands!)- Many thanks and praises to
you, and to all who brought tasty dishes and culinary treats.

As always- hope to see you at the next meeting/performance- please try
to bring a friend who has never attended one of our meetings. And
please remember to go to our website and print out the membership
application and renew your membership for the 2008-2009 season!
